Hello again, dear ones. Welcome back (or for the first time, for those who have recently joined) to the monthly Resourcing the Revolution newsletter.
As I write this edition of the newsletter, the fall eclipse portal feels like it’s shredding — or perhaps, if you’ve experienced a more gentle version, shedding — layer after layer of old skin. What’s left feels raw, vulnerable… and strangely alive.
September has always carried that stormy energy for me. Recently, it’s some mix of back-to-school chaos, shifting seasons, politics heating up, and global uncertainty. It’s as if the winds themselves are testing our roots.
And it’s here, amidst those shifting winds and the change of seasons (happy Equinox this past Monday), that we find ourselves this month.
There’s a Brandi Carlile lyric that goes: “You can dance in a hurricane, but only if you’re standing in the eye.”
She means the literal eye of the storm, when the winds temporarily die down and you glimpse stillness amidst the whirling chaos. But I’ve been sitting with a different interpretation:
You can dance in a hurricane — the overwhelm of our world right now — but only if you’re standing in the “I.”
Standing strong in who you really are. What you believe in. What you stand for. Not waiting for calm, but choosing to step into the eye of the storm and anchor there.
Your “I” becomes the center that can move without being swept away.
And this becomes the revolution: reclaiming your center when everything around you is chaos.
Let’s step into the storm, shall we?
Invitation of the Month: Remember Your Center
I usually bury the lede a bit in these newsletters. But this time, I’m putting the invitation right up front.
Both to catch anyone who’s just skimming, and because I believe so deeply in this upcoming event that I don’t want anyone to miss it — especially if it might be the thing you need right now.
This hurricane-dancing is precisely what we’ll be practicing together at Revolutionary Reset Live (October 3rd–5th).
It’s a 3-day (virtual) retreat designed for changemakers, caregivers, and women navigating transition. I’m especially gearing this toward those who’ve been running on fumes, holding it all together, and quietly wondering how much longer they can keep this pace.
Over the course of the weekend, we’ll move gently through practice, rest, and reflection. You’ll be invited to:
Root your nervous system amidst the chaos.
Reconnect with what brings you joy and clarity.
Release what drains your time, energy, and attention.
Restore calm and resilience through simple (yet transformational) practices.
Rise with a rest-first rhythm and a body-honest North Star to guide you.
And remember how to move from your own “I,” no matter what storms are brewing.
Don’t think of our time together as more input. The world throws enough of that at you.
Instead, you need space for your own truth to surface. That’s what this retreat is intended to create. Not just for the weekend, but stepping back out into life with a plan for how to create that space in “real life.”
We’re not waiting for calm to begin, for our schedules to get less hectic, or for ourselves to feel ready. We gather now, in the storm, and find the grace of moving together.
We’ll gather on Friday afternoon / evening (depending on your time zone) to get settled, and then spend the next two days in some combination of workshopping, movement, community, journaling, and even some built-in solo time.
And because I believe this work should be accessible, it’s offered on a sliding scale — $95 minimum, $195 suggested, or $295 to sustain and pay the work forward.
If that feels like a stretch, there are a few ‘Pay What You Can’ spots reserved. Your presence matters more than the number on the checkout page.
If your body is whispering (or shouting) “yes,” consider this your invitation.
A quick note: since there are a few reflection prompts to complete ahead of time, registration for Revolutionary Reset Live will close at midnight Eastern on Wednesday, October 1st.
If this retreat is calling to you, please sign up before then so you have time to arrive ready and supported.
Quote of the Month: Stillness at the Center
The most profound truths rarely arrive with thunder or lightning. They come in the quiet, in the pause, in the breath, in the moment we finally allow ourselves to stop.
This month’s quote, from Derek Rydall, a mentor of mine, reminds us that there’s magic in the stillness:
To The One Who Can Be Still, All Things Are Possible
In a world that seems louder by the day—with endless demands, distractions, and distorted definitions of success—there is a quieter truth, waiting patiently within you.
It doesn’t shout.
It doesn’t push.
But when you get still enough… it speaks life into you.
— Derek Rydall
This is the eye of the storm — the place where the “I” finds its footing again and stands tall.
And your reminder that stillness isn’t weakness.
It’s power.
Idea of the Month: Find Center Through Small Choices
Small beginnings matter.
And even in times of chaos, you can still plant seeds.
As we continue to navigate the storms of the past year, five years, decade… (whew)... I keep coming back to this gentle truth.
The smallest acts of care, intention, and hope — be it a conversation, a pause, a choice — are how we begin to shape a future different from the present.
When I was in the depths of PMDD (postpartum mood disorder and depression) during my kiddo’s first year, one choice I made again and again was to get outside with the stroller and take a walk.
Even on the days I didn’t want to, it was a reminder that I was still alive. That forward motion was possible, even if only for thirty minutes at a time.
It didn’t fix everything. But moving my body, getting out into nature? Those walks became tiny anchors — small beginnings that helped me not lose myself in the middle of the storm.
That’s the thing about seeds. You don’t always see what they’re becoming in the moment. There’s a lot that happens in the darkness. Sometimes destruction. And, eventually, transformation.
You don’t have to know exactly how it will unfold.
You just have to keep planting.
What seeds have you been planting this eclipse season? What small beginnings do you know, deep down, are possible with just a little trust and patience?
Photo of the Month: Centered in Your Past Selves
I have been a thousand different women.
In the midst of the storm, it’s easy to forget who got us here.
We are carried on the back of every version of ourselves who got us to this moment. The ones who stumbled, the ones who rose again and simply kept going.
The ones who survived. Even if we didn’t like her while it was happening.
To make peace with all of those versions is to reclaim the wholeness of our story.
To honor them is to remember that even the most fragile or fragmented parts still carried us where we needed to go.
Today, I say thank you to the version of myself who made it through. I literally would not be who I am today without her.
Short Practice of the Month: Breathe Back to Center
When chaos surrounds you, the simplest anchor is your breath. Box Breathing is one of my favorite practices for restoring calm — and it’s used everywhere from yoga studios to the Navy SEALs.
The idea is simple: breathe in a steady rhythm, imagining that your breath creates the four sides of a box.
How to do it:
Inhale for a count of 4.
Hold for a count of 4.
Exhale for a count of 4.
Hold for a count of 4.
Repeat for 3–5 rounds, or as long as it feels supportive.
In my experience, it only takes a few cycles for the parasympathetic nervous system to start to do its thing.
This practice signals safety to your nervous system, slows racing thoughts and heartbeats, and helps you find peace in the eye of the storm, even when the winds are still howling around you.
Post of the Month: When the Center Slips Away
This month’s post from the archives reminds us that storms don’t just come from outside. Sometimes they build quietly in our own calendars, until the weight of too much tips us into that moment where we’re ready to call “uncle.”
From the post:
It doesn’t hurt so much right at this moment, but then it happens: one more project drops into view, one more thing to try to squeeze into your already packed life, one more thing that’s just so awesome, so right, that you can’t turn it down.
You find yourself stuck, caught at that intersection of “ouch” and “holy-crap-you’re-breaking-my-arm”.
What do you do?
Where do you find the balance between the stuff you want to do and the stuff you have to do?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this tension, especially with Revolutionary Reset Live coming up soon. And I think what I’ve realized is this:
When the pressure builds to breaking, it’s an invitation to reset, release what no longer fits, and make space for what truly matters.
Song of the Month: Centered in Purpose
When I first started thinking about the subject of this month’s edition, Mayestra’s Born for This immediately popped into my head as a perfect lyrical match — a reminder that we’re not here by accident.
Something new is coming I can feel this rhythmic pressing all the pressure coalescing I was made for this.
This challenge is familiar reminiscent of my dreams and the echoes of my culture I remember things.
I chose to come at this time I am here to change the earth tides I am here to build a new life I was born for this.
In these lyrics, I feel the stirring of old echoes, collective memory, and half-forgotten dreams.
And I feel called back to the truth:
We chose to be here, now. Not to wait for calm, but to change the tides.
And to rise.
Mindset of the Month: Your Center is Your Sanctuary
When the winds pick up, it’s tempting to search for shelter outside ourselves — the quiet place, the safe person, the perfect moment of calm.
But you wanna know the truth?
You carry that sanctuary within you.
You can find it in the length of your own spine. In the breath. In moments of stillness.
You can always return to the “I.”
No matter how loud the world gets, your center is always there, waiting for you to come home.
One of my favorite lines from my lineage’s Yoga Nidra practice comes right before the moments of deepest relaxation, as an invitation to remember that true peace lives inside:
“And leaving the body and breath behind, we find peace. Know that this peace is your true nature. It’s always there within you, just waiting for you to become still and quiet, and to observe it.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to tap into that stillness. To remember that embodied level of deep peace.
Return to Your Center
As we wrap this month’s edition, I hope you’ll take heart in the constant presence of that deep inner peace.
Because the truth is, storms will always come. The winds will rise, the ground will shift, and the world will continue to ask more than it gives.
But we can each return to that inner sanctuary, the still center that just asks to be remembered.
Sometimes, the simplest act of rebellion is to pause long enough to return there.
Until next time: rest, then rise.
P.S. The storms aren’t slowing down. And the world isn’t guaranteed to get any quieter.
But you don’t have to wait until everything is calm to feel steady, whole, and alive.
That’s what we’ll practice together at Revolutionary Reset Live (October 3–5) — stepping into the eye of the storm, reclaiming your center, and rising from there.
Exhaustion and helplessness are not our only options. We can stay informed without burning out. We can take action in ways that align with our strengths. We can care for ourselves and our communities. We can hold onto our shared humanity. And we can look toward a future worth fighting for. As a guide, channel, and truth-teller, I help women changemakers reclaim their identity, step into their power, and cultivate the space they need to thrive. I don't just teach "self-care" — I help women come home to themselves. This is more than personal growth; it's about awakening the collective, allowing the divine feminine to rise, and shaking up the status quo to build a more beautiful world. I believe that – together – we can be catalysts for impact and positive change.
