Resourcing the Revolution, Volume VII {April 2025}

Hello again, dear ones. Welcome back (or for the first time, for those who have recently joined) to the monthly Resourcing the Revolution newsletter.

As this month's edition began to unfold into the light, Mother Nature was busy doing the same. Seeds planted in darkness have split, unfurling tendrils of green through the soil, reaching for the sun.

Humanity appears, for the most part, to be doing the same. From the darkness of chaos and collapse come glimmers of hope. People are taking to the streets, to the virtual stages and podiums of the internet, speaking up, standing up, rising up.

And so this month, I want to reflect on what it means to stand for something. Not just metaphorically. But actively. In our bodies, choices, and lives.

As you may remember from last month's edition, I put my body on the line fourteen years ago, protesting the Keystone XL pipeline, standing for the planet, for the climate, and for the future.

In a twist of events, I ended up in jail for the weekend instead of doing what was called "post and forfeit" (basically, paying a fine and walking away).

After we were released, people kept telling us how brave we'd been. But for me, the real heroes were the ones who showed up on the second day, knowing that the first wave of protesters had been locked up. And those who kept coming, day after day, through the end of the two weeks.

Something I'm actively aware of, given the current political climate: I went to jail under the watch of a "friendly" administration. There was no question about whether we'd get out at the end.

It wasn't the first time I stood up for something I believed in deeply, nor would it be the last. That moment in front of the White House was just one thread woven through a much longer story.

And today, as the tides of change continue to rise — with a growing resistance movement rallying for Democracy — I feel that same call to stand again, tugging at my sleeves and my heart.

Sometimes, standing doesn't look like protest. It can look like choosing yourself, naming your truth, and saying out loud, "This is no longer okay."

But what if the real invitation is to stand FOR something? For joy. For dignity. For a life that honors our bodies, our boundaries, our freedoms, our knowing?

We stand. We fight against. We remember what we're fighting for. We forget again. We practice. We remember.

And we do it all over again.

This month, we dive deep into where your voice is feeling called. What is reaching for the light, wanting to speak from the depths of your soul?

Quote of the Month: Words to Stand On

This month’s quote reminds us that standing isn’t a moment. It’s a movement.

“A non-violent revolution is not a particle but a wave. Think of [April 5th’s] protests not as a single event, but as activation for a continuing energy. Now all of us have to take it from here. Non-violence as a political philosophy isn’t simply a mode of activism, but a way of life.
We can’t create a different kind of world unless we’re willing to be different people. Literally.”
— Marianne Williamson

How can you show up, speak up, stand up differently?

Idea of the Month: Where Are You Being Called to Stand?

The times, they are a calling… but you may feel uncertain about how to respond to that calling.

Here are a couple of things to remember:

Taking a stand is not reserved for the boldest among us.

One of the beautiful things I observed at the first Hands Off event was the broad range of faces and voices in attendance. There were families bringing their kids to their first rally, elders who hadn't been to a protest since the 1970s (or who were attending their first one), and a range of ages in between.

Taking a stand can also begin quietly.

By choosing to rest in a world that demands overwork.
By setting boundaries in a culture that rewards martyrdom.
By speaking truth to power when it would be easier (and safer) to stay silent.

This month, I invite you to consider: where are you being asked to stand? What are you standing for that's bigger than your fear?

Not performatively. Not perfectly.

Just as you are.

Photo of the Month: How We Stand Together

This is the beginning — not the end. Both a promise and a whisper on the wind, calling in the future.

The other side of my sign reads, "Powerful. Rooted. Together, we rise." (And my toddler carried a hand-painted sign that read, "Hands off my future.”)

As we explore this topic, begin by giving yourself credit for the places and ways you've stood recently, both small and large. And consider what it would mean to be seen standing this month.

Short Practice of the Month: Standing Grounded

This month is all about standing up and speaking truth. Not just externally but internally, too. If you're having trouble finding your voice in this moment, or it feels shaky, silenced, or otherwise stuck, this one's for you.

Somatic Humming is a simple yet powerful tool for regulating your nervous system, grounding your body, and awakening your voice.

You don't need words. You don't need to perform. You simply need breath, vibration, and presence.

How to do it:

  1. Find a quiet moment. Sit (or stand) in a relaxed position with an elongated spine. Before you begin, feel where your body connects to the earth.
  2. Take a few slow breaths. Inhale through your nose and exhale with a gentle audible sigh.
  3. When you're ready to begin, inhale and then let out a long hum: any pitch, any length. Let the sound vibrate in your chest, throat, or lips. Hold the sound until you begin to run out of breath.
  4. Repeat a few more times, keeping your breath easy. You might notice a sense of calm, clarity, or even emotion moving through.
  5. Afterward, pause. Notice how you feel and if anything has shifted.

This is voice as presence, not performance. Let your body remember that your voice is safe, sacred, and wholly yours.

Post of the Month: Stand Without Sacrifice

We've been taught that to change the world, we have to sacrifice ourselves. That burnout is noble. Boundaries are selfish. And the only way to take a stand is to give everything to the cause.

As I was looking for an article to pull out of the archives, this one called out, calling us into a new kind of revolution — one where honoring your needs is a non-negotiable part of the work.

From the post:

“By stepping up and declaring that you’re opting out of this mentality, you challenge the system and the status quo. You become a rebel against the rebellion.”

Let’s change the conversation around worldchanging, shall we?

Song of the Month: Stand Up. Rise Up.

Rise Up by Andra Day has become the anthem of change. It's been the heartbeat of many movements, carrying the truth that rising isn't a one-time act. It's a daily choice, one that we embody in order for change to stick.

I'll rise up
Rise like the day
I'll rise up
In spite of the ache
I will rise a thousand times again

And we'll rise up
High like the waves
We'll rise up
In spite of the ache
We'll rise up
And we'll do it a thousand times again

Let the music move through you this month, calling for you to rise.

Mindset of the Month: Stand As You Are

Earlier, I asked you to reflect on what's calling you to stand and what's bigger than your fear.

But, equally as important, ask yourself:

What do I have the capacity to hold right now?

On Monday, my teacher Britt shared the following.

"What is your life's purpose today? What are you here to do? What do you need to cultivate, tend to, and nurture in order for you to accomplish the goal of your life's purpose — today — (notice I say "today" so as not to get caught up in tomorrow and all of the other days that are to come, for there is no way to know anything but today)."

As you're being asked to stand, it can all feel too big. Too much. Too insistent.

But here's the truth. You don't have to be ready. You just have to be real. Show up as you are, with what you have, and do what you can.

This month, I'm practicing standing in truth, not perfection. Not approval. Not certainty.

Just presence. Conviction. And enough voice to say: here I am.

And here you are, too. What can you do, today?

Stand Here. Stand Now.

There's no one right way to stand.

Sometimes it's showing up at a rally with a hand-painted sign.
Sometimes it's setting a boundary that feels impossible.
Sometimes it's humming your truth back into your bones.

Whatever it looks like for you this month, remember this:

Standing for something — whether for joy, justice, or your own voice — doesn't need to be a grand gesture. It's a practice, a becoming. A choice we make over and over again.

The question is never, "Am I doing enough?"

The real question is, "Am I standing for what matters most, in the way I can, today?"

Until next time... Stand up. Rise up. Again and again.

Resourcing the Revolution

Exhaustion and helplessness are not our only options. We can stay informed without burning out. We can take action in ways that align with our strengths. We can care for ourselves and our communities. We can hold onto our shared humanity. And we can look toward a future worth fighting for. As a guide, channel, and truth-teller, I help women changemakers reclaim their identity, step into their power, and cultivate the space they need to thrive. I don't just teach "self-care" — I help women come home to themselves. This is more than personal growth; it's about awakening the collective, allowing the divine feminine to rise, and shaking up the status quo to build a more beautiful world. I believe that – together – we can be catalysts for impact and positive change.
