Resourcing the Revolution, Volume VIII {May 2025}

Hello again, dear ones. Welcome back (or for the first time, for those who have recently joined) to Resourcing the Revolution — a space for rest, resilience, and remembering that you matter.

If you're feeling beyond stretched thin right now, you are not alone. I hear the echoes of bone-deep exhaustion across mediums, from online spaces to in-person gatherings.

The quiet part seems to be shouted out loud on the daily these days, and it can be hard to fully relax even when there's time to rest.

It's like there's a collective tiredness in the air itself, a weariness that runs deeper than busy schedules or long to-do lists. It's the fatigue that comes from carrying too much for too long (and from tending the fires of change without tending the flame within).

But there's also a whisper of truth that taps me on the shoulder:

If we want to be in this for the long haul — to not just survive, but build something new in place of what seems to be crumbling under our feet — we must nourish ourselves as fiercely as we fight for the future.

'Cause guess what? Care, rest, and sustenance are not luxuries. They are revolutionary strategies.

They are how we endure.

How we envision what comes next.

And how we rise.

This month, let's shift the narrative.

Instead of trying to fix what's broken in us, let's focus on feeding what's alive.
Instead of pushing harder, let's choose to root deeper.
Instead of rushing toward an endless horizon, let's allow ourselves to move like rivers: steady, powerful, alive, held within the banks that allow us to flow.

Because exhaustion serves the status quo. But nourishment fuels the revolution.

And you, my dear, are worth feeding.

Ready? Let's begin.

Quote of the Month: Nourish Your Vision

As we root ourselves in this season of nourishment, it's worth remembering: rest isn't just about recovery. It's creating the space to open the door to vision, imagination, and the futures we can't yet fully see.

This month’s quote reminds us:

“Without a vision you perish. Without a dream, you perish. Without access to your imagination, you perish.
Rest is a portal to imagination and if you didn’t believe that dreaming and imagination were important, maybe you do now.
Y’all ready to rest and dream a new world? ’Cause this ain’t it.”
Octavia Raheem

As the season turns and the Earth grows full, so can we.

This month, we're centering nourishment. Not as an afterthought, but as the foundation for everything we're here to create. To rest, then dream a new world.

Idea of the Month: Nourishing What’s Alive

This month, I invite you to focus on feeding what’s alive, not trying to “fix” what’s broken. And to embrace slowing down as a radical (yet necessary) act.

The most powerful way to let go of what no longer serves us isn’t to fight it. It’s to fill ourselves so full of goodness, joy, rest, and meaning that what drains us simply fades away.

(If that idea sounds familiar, it’s because it’s one of the core ideas my teacher Britt shares in her Pilgrim program, where I’ve been honored to serve as a Guide for many years.)

Nourishment isn’t passive, no matter what modern convenience might suggest. When done well, it’s a bold, deliberate choice.

Every day, you feed something with your attention, energy, and time.

What you feed, grows. What you starve, withers.

Where you place that attention, that nourishment, is up to you.

And yet, one of the most common ways we surrender our agency is by rushing.

We’ve been taught to outrun our exhaustion. We try to control every outcome instead of trusting our roots to hold.

But what if we chose to root deeper instead of pushing harder? To feed, in slow and deliberate ways, that which truly nourishes us, body and soul?

What if the real revolution begins by refusing to abandon ourselves in the name of being productive?

Slowing down isn’t laziness. It’s sovereignty. It’s how you build a life that’s rooted, not reactive. It’s how you begin to fill your cup with what truly matters, leaving no space for what no longer does.

May we have the courage to move differently this month. To nourish instead of hustle. To root deeply. And to watch all the rest fall away.

Photo of the Month: Slow and Quiet Nourishment

This wild strawberry showed up quietly on our land recently, nestled in dried grass and old growth, rooting in silence, reaching for the light.

It reminds me that beauty and resilience often bloom closest to the Earth, and what nourishes us doesn’t always arrive loud or fast.

Sometimes it’s tucked away quietly, just doing its thing. Waiting for us to slow down enough to notice.

Short Practice of the Month: Be Present to Nourishment

This month, I’m doing things a little differently. Rather than sharing a purely body- or breath-based practice, I want to invite all five senses into play.

Well, technically only four, but I’ll share an optional step that you can add to make it delicious.

How to do it:

  1. Step outside barefoot. Stand on grass, soil, a deck or patio (any natural surface that lets you feel connected to the earth).
  2. Close your eyes.
  3. Then work through each of your senses.
    • Feel the earth beneath your feet, the air against your skin.
    • Hear the sounds around you, whether close or in the distance.
    • Take a deep breath and smell any scents carried on the air.
  4. Open your eyes and take in the fullness of the world around you, taking a moment to see the colors and sights.
  5. (Optional) Bring a berry or small piece of fruit with you. Pause for a moment to observe its color, shape, and scent. Then take a slow bite and truly taste it. Let it be a moment of wonder as you savor the burst of flavor on your tongue.

If you can, give yourself a few minutes outside to really enjoy it all. Let your attention rest fully in your body, in the moment.

No effort required. Just presence. Let this be enough.

And if it helps, remind yourself: you don’t need to earn nourishment or rest, but they can be savored.

Post of the Month: Nourish with Joy

This month’s post from the archives is a reminder that you don’t have to earn your joy. You can simply follow what’s blooming and let it lead you back to yourself.

From the post:

“That being said, and you may be the same way, when the weather turns this beautiful I find it incredibly difficult to sit inside and work. My spirit wants to be in the sunshine, laying in the grass and taking in the warm, damp smell of springtime.
And, you know what?
Stop me if you’ve heard this before…
Life is too short.

Go.
Play.
Breathe in the springtime, stare at the forsythia and cherry blossoms until you just can’t look any more, feel the tender spring grass in between your toes. Go for late afternoon walks, let your inner child out to play and spend an evening swinging on a swing set under the stars; do something to dust off your soul.”

Sometimes nourishment looks like a deep breath. Sometimes, like stepping away from the screen and into the sunlight. And sometimes, like letting joy move you.

Let this be your invitation to follow what feels alive.

Recipe of the Month: The Sweetness of Nourishment

I don’t always offer a recipe section in the newsletter, but with strawberry season in full swing, it feels like the perfect time to break out something simple, nourishing, and sweet in every way.

I couldn’t pick just one, so you get two different versions that can be adapted for various dietary needs and prepped ahead of time for an easy snack.

First, Minimalist Baker’s Strawberry Matcha Chia Pudding. It combines the freshness of strawberries with the earthy depth of matcha, offering a vibrant color contrast and a delightful flavor pairing. Yum!

And a more traditional offering, Lisa Bryan’s Downshiftology Chia Pudding topped with Strawberries.

Go ahead. Celebrate the sweetness of the season. You deserve it!

Song of the Month: Good Stuff for Nourishment

Sometimes a song says exactly what needs to be said — simply, honestly, and with a beat you can’t help but feel in your body.

This month, Good Shit Happens by Michael Franti & Spearhead feels like the perfect reminder that joy is not a detour from the work. Rather, it’s fuel for the journey.

There's so much drama in this great big life
And I would never try to offer you advice
But if there's just one thing that I could share with you
It's that bad shit happens but good shit happens too
So let it happen to you

Let the good times roll
Let em' into your soul
Life goes quickly so take it slow

Let this song be a reminder: you don’t have to rush through the good. Savor it. Let it soak in.

Because slowing down doesn’t have to mean stepping away from the world. Instead, it can be how we stay in it, fully alive.

Mindset of the Month: Nourish What Matters

Last weekend, my husband said something that hit me harder than I expected. He reflected back to me how much of my self-worth still seems tied to how much I accomplish in any given week.

And… ouch. He wasn’t wrong.

It’s humbling, especially because I teach this stuff.

I “know” that worth doesn’t come from hustle. That productivity isn’t the point. That we’re more than what we check off a list.

And yet, it’s still there, this deeply ingrained urge to prove myself by doing more.

An unconscious pattern directing the way I see myself.

So this month, I invite you to consider the following: What if your value isn’t in what you produce — but in how you nourish what matters?

In light of this realization, the truth I keep returning to is this:

Nourishment isn’t just personal. It’s political. It’s cultural. It’s collective. The way we care for ourselves shifts the field for everyone around us.

Resting when tired, letting ourselves off the hook, choosing joy even when the to-do list isn't done? These are not selfish acts. They are a refusal to feed the machine.

And these acts extend beyond just the personal. What might it look like to nourish not just your body, but your world?

It could be soup for an elder in your neighborhood.
Not snapping at your kid when you're tapped out.
Or texting a friend to check in and say how much you appreciate them just for being themselves.

It’s not about fixing everything. It’s about feeding what’s alive.

Invitation of the Month: Grounded in Nourishment

If May is the season of nourishment, resilience is the fruit that nourishment bears.

When we take the time to ground our nervous systems, we create the inner stability needed to show up for life — rooted, steady, and able to weather whatever storms come our way.

If you’re feeling tapped out by life and the world, and would like support in replenishing your reserves, I just released the recordings of my Building Resilience: Your Toolbox for Turbulent Times workshop from earlier this spring.

It’s a deep dive into simple, powerful tools from yoga, somatic work, and Ayurveda to help you reset, regulate, and rise.

There are a million things you “could” be doing to support your nervous system, but I’ve pared them down and simplified to a handful that are my go-tos in wild times.

Access includes a 90-minute yoga class, a 2-hour workshop, and a companion workbook with journaling prompts.

Because building resilience isn’t about gritting it out; it’s about nourishing deeper. And it’s never too late (or too early) to start.

If cost is an issue, please reach out (and let me know you’re a subscriber). We can work something out that works for both of us!

Nourish for the Long Haul

This month, may we all root into what’s real. May we choose joy without guilt. May we rest like it's our birthright — because it is.

The revolution starts within, with you. And you, dear one, are worth resourcing. Not just once, but for the long haul.

Next month, we'll dive deeper into the idea of resourcing: what it means, what it looks like in practice, and how it can help us build a more beautiful world.

Until next time: rest, then rise.

Resourcing the Revolution

Exhaustion and helplessness are not our only options. We can stay informed without burning out. We can take action in ways that align with our strengths. We can care for ourselves and our communities. We can hold onto our shared humanity. And we can look toward a future worth fighting for. As a guide, channel, and truth-teller, I help women changemakers reclaim their identity, step into their power, and cultivate the space they need to thrive. I don't just teach "self-care" — I help women come home to themselves. This is more than personal growth; it's about awakening the collective, allowing the divine feminine to rise, and shaking up the status quo to build a more beautiful world. I believe that – together – we can be catalysts for impact and positive change.
