Hello again, dear ones. Welcome back (or for the first time, for those who have recently joined) to the monthly Resourcing the Revolution newsletter.
Tomorrow brings the Summer Solstice. This moment marks the point of balance between darkness and light and begins the long exhale of the summer season.
The pace of life seems to both pick up and slow down, all at the same time.
And within this dichotomy of motion and stillness, we find ourselves in a world that can, frankly, feel like one long string of WTF.
So what, perchance, does one do in times like these?
We practice. We resource. And we try like hell to come out the other end in one piece, with a functioning nervous system still intact.
But what exactly is resourcing?
In simple language, it’s a somatic process that helps identify internal and external resources to feel more grounded and present in your body.
For our purposes, it's also about gathering tools that are helpful as we reimagine the world we want to live in (and do things like — but not limited to — confronting the realities of capitalism, smashing the patriarchy, or standing up for the precious planet that gives us all life).
And for this month’s edition of the newsletter, we’re diving deep into what it could look like to gather our resources for the days ahead.
As we gently slide into the first day of summer tomorrow, this seasonal shift offers us a moment to pause and take stock. Not to hoard or hustle, but to gently notice what’s already here, what’s being offered, and what we can call in.
Keep in mind that resourcing isn't always grand or ceremonial. Often, it begins in the mundane, in the tiny rituals that ground us in the present moment.
Every night before bed, I practice Ayurvedic foot oiling with lavender essential oil. And recently, instead of the one drop I try to add to the mix I'm massaging in, two drops fly out. Doesn't matter how careful I'm trying to be.
It’s like the universe is chastising me. “Bitch, please. Like you don’t need a DOUBLE dose of relax right now!”
It’s with that reminder — from the plants, the cosmos, or whoever needs me to hear it — that we dive into this month’s edition, all about what it means to resource ourselves in times like these.

Quote of the Month: The Roots of Resourcing
In a world that constantly tells us we're not enough, this month's quote serves as a reminder: Everything you're looking outside yourself for? You already are.
You're not becoming. You're remembering.
“We do not become healers. We came as healers. We are.
Some of us are still catching up to what we are.
We do not become storytellers. We came as carriers of the stories we and our ancestors actually lived.
We do not become artists. We came as artists.
We are.
Some of us are still catching up to what we are.”
— Clarissa Pinkola Estés
Whether you already remember or you're just catching up, you begin to resource yourself not by reaching outward, but by rooting inward.
By remembering what’s already part of you and seeing the tools you’ve been taught to overlook (or not even recognize in the first place).

Idea of the Month: Remember Your Resources
This month’s idea is simple, but it changes everything.
Guess what? No matter what society says…
You don’t need to earn your way into being resourced.
Most of us were taught to think of “resources” as something we acquire. Something we have to earn. More time, more money, more capacity, more tools.
Something just out of reach.
But what if the most powerful resources aren’t something to get, but something to remember?
Your breath. Your boundaries. Your ancestors. Your intuition. Your quiet. Your rage. Your rest. Your joy.
Not a single one of these requires you to hustle harder. They ask only to be noticed, tended, and reclaimed.
You don't need to wait until you've earned rest, or until your life is more "together," or until the world calms down.
Resourcing begins now, with what's already here.

Photo of the Month: Resourcing Through Nature
These are the questions I’ve been sitting with lately:
What if everything I need is already here? What if I don’t need to look outside myself?
Not as a platitude or bypass — but as a genuine somatic inquiry.
So I ask you: What if resourcing ourselves isn’t about acquiring more, but about noticing what already surrounds and sustains us?
The steady hum of the forest. The warmth of sun on skin as it shimmers through the trees. The quiet knowing of the breath returning, the sun rising, the seasons changing. Again and again.
When we learn to trust what’s already here, within us, around us, we stop trying to hustle our way to wholeness.
And, taking our lessons from the trees, we begin to root.

Short Practice of the Month: Resourcing in Motion
A couple of years ago, I did a trauma-informed somatic training with my dear friend Erin Henshaw. During that training, a fellow attendee shared an exercise that I’ve come to adore.
I find myself regularly tapping into it when I walk the path from my studio back to the house, allowing a few quiet moments of grounding as I switch from work mode to home.
Today, I want to bring that same practice to you.
How to do it:
- While walking slowly (or at a natural, steady pace), gently bring your attention to your breath.
- Begin to slow and deepen each inhale and exhale.
-
Then, invite your hands into the rhythm:
- On your inhale, turn your palms forward and slightly upward.
- On your exhale, turn your palms back down toward the earth.
- Repeat this for a few breaths… or as long as it takes for your body to soften, your shoulders to drop, or your mind to quiet.
The beauty of this practice? No one around you would know you're doing anything at all (unless they’re paying very close attention).
This practice works exceptionally well when you’re walking in nature. Let yourself look up. Gaze at the trees, the sky, the peace of the more-than-human world. Let the OG mama offer you a breath, and let your body receive it.

Post of the Month: Resourcing Through Rhythm
There are days when resourcing looks like ritual, like deep breaths and embodied grounding.
And other days? It might look more like blasting your favorite song and dancing around the kitchen like no one’s watching.
This article from the archives is about one of those days. It was the reminder I needed that resourcing isn’t about adding more to my plate. It’s about remembering what already works.
From the post:
You may not know this about me, but I was a music major in college. I’ve listened to and played music for most of my life, and yet I still manage to occasionally (okay, regularly) forget the power of music.
It’s a totally individual experience, and everyone will have a slightly different type of music and general vibe that’s their perfect mix. But I truly believe that everyone who’s out there in the world trying to make a difference needs their own “resilience” mix.
You don’t need to push harder to find your center. Sometimes, exactly what you need is already in your playlist, just waiting for you to break it out and jam.

Song of the Month: Calling In Our Resources |
|
|
This month’s track comes from Ayla Nereo, a musician and “bridger of sound” from Northern California. She calls us to listen deeper in her song The Course:
…Who’ll strike the drum when our thundering heartbeat needs it when the feet gotta pray it down who’ll beat the ground?
who will speak in truth and where will they walk it, show us how my darling who’ll sow the truth
and where from will it bloom to the story as we shape it for each other, brother sister what we choose
this breath we been given this life we are tending this garden we are seeding for the ones yet to come
There's a steady ancestral invocation woven through the rhythm and lyrics. A reminder that resourcing isn't just about what we draw in — it's also about what we're seeding, tending, and offering forward.
Let it move through you this month as both an invitation to ground and a call to rise.
As we flow into the early days of summer, may we each be present to what we’re seeding, what we’re tending, what we’re calling in.

Mindset of the Month: Resourcing Begins with Noticing
Resourcing doesn't have its roots in doing. It begins with listening. To the body, to the breath, to what's already true.
Before we rush to fix or change or plan, there’s power in simply pausing to notice.
For this month’s mindset section, let’s keep it simple. Instead of “telling” you anything, I’m turning the mirror over to you.
With a series of seven gentle questions, let’s explore what’s working, what’s not, and how you might better resource yourself to meet the moment:
- What are you carrying right now?
- What are you longing for or daydreaming about?
- Where are you drawing strength from, and/or what’s filling your well?
- What’s running dry or feeling like it’s pulling you down?
- What’s unsustainable, carried out of obligation, or asking to be put down?
- What would feel like relief, even temporarily?
- What kind of support or structure would help you in this moment?
Use these questions as a soft check-in and let them meet you where you are. You don’t have to have the answers.
Grab a journal and a mug of tea. Start with awareness. And let the noticing be enough.

Invitation of the Month: Let the Solstice Resource You
With the portal of Summer Solstice arriving tomorrow (Friday, June 20th) at 10:41 pm Eastern, my invitation is simple:
Block out some time tomorrow to slow down and just be.
Yup. Seriously. That’s it.
Whether it’s five minutes or five hours, make a date with yourself. Mark it on the calendar. Treat it as sacred.
And whatever amount of time you choose to block out:
Do something that brings you joy. Honor the incoming season — as well as the one we’re leaving behind. And take a moment of gratitude for this wild, precious human experience.
The Solstice is a marker. A portal. A threshold. A turning of the page.
A completion and a beginning, all in one.
Let it be a reminder: you don’t have to earn (or buy) your way into presence. You’re allowed to pause and gather your resources.
* * *
And if you’d like to take an extra pause this weekend, I’ll be teaching a special virtual yoga class to celebrate the Solstice this Sunday, June 22nd, at 3 pm Eastern.
I wasn’t planning to do this, but the local space where I usually teach in-person yoga has a busted AC system and it’s going to be almost 90 on Sunday.
So, to the virtual mat we go. The good news is, now I get to invite you as well!
All are welcome — advance registration (by donation) required.

The Revolution Is Well-Resourced
As we step into this next season, may we each remember:
You don’t have to do more to be worthy of rest. You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin (or begin again). You don’t need a grand plan to take a single breath and come home to yourself.
This is the revolution. Quiet, steady, rooted. Resourced.
May you gather your resources not for performance, but for presence.
May this Solstice be a portal into deeper nourishment.
May you feel supported by what’s already within you.
And may you allow yourself to gather what you need — without apology.
Until next time: rest, then rise.

P.S.
Since the AC is out at my local studio space, join me for a special virtual Solstice yoga class this Sunday, June 22nd at 3 PM Eastern (or by recording).
Consider this an embodied invitation to slow down, soften, and gather your resources for the season ahead.
All are welcome — registration is by donation.
